Trojka’s makeover: The timeless spirit gets a fresh new look

When we say Trojka, you instantly picture the iconic female-shaped bottle with the star embossing, right? Well, it’s no wonder! It's the most famous vodka in Switzerland with a highly recognizable bottle shape. This bottle has become synonymous with quality and tradition for over two decades. We're thrilled to bring you its exciting new, modern look this October!

The story behind the change

When Trojka was first launched, we aimed to capture a distinctly Russian feel, as vodka was predominantly associated with Russia. Back then, Russia was the epitome of vodka. And guess what? Over the past 20 years, the vodka landscape has evolved, with many countries now proudly producing their own vodka brands. Switzerland, for example, takes great pride in Trojka Vodka as its leading spirit. To reflect these changes, we've reduced the prominence of the red star and adapted the entire Trojka’s identity to better fit our Swiss lifestyle.

Designing the new bottle

“With the new bottle, we aimed for a clearer, higher-quality look”, said Rebecca Mathy, Brand Manager of Trojka Vodka. “However, translating a bottle design from a computer screen to a physical product is no simple task. In August 2023, we visited the bottle studio of Univerre, our trusted partner for Trojka bottles, located in Valais. There, we were inspired and guided by their expertise.”

When we started this redesign journey, we wanted to ensure that the new bottle would not only look great but also feel premium in your hand. We brainstormed with the designers and engineers at Univerre, discussing everything from the shape and size of the bottle to the materials used. “The goal was to create something that would stand out on the shelves while maintaining the essence of Trojka”, said Anke Krocker, Lead Designer for this project from WIN.

Testing and finalising the design

Various designs were tested for stability, break resistance and appearance. We knew that the bottle had to be durable enough to withstand transport and handling, yet elegant enough to reflect the premium quality of the liquor inside.

We tested different bottle shapes, embossing styles and materials used, making sure every element was perfect. After several iterations, we finalised the bottle design in spring 2024. We are extremely proud of our new look! Without giving too much away, we can tell you that the bottle is not only visually appealing but also comfortable to hold, with a lot of grooves.

Production of the new bottles

Following the creation of a 3D model, the new bottles were produced in summer 2024. This production phase was an exciting time for us as we saw our vision come to life. The team at Univerre ensured that each bottle met our high quality standards.
