Tips & tricks for mixing cocktails
What do you need to mix cocktails?
If you want to transform your kitchen into a private cocktail bar for mixing premium drinks, all you need is a few simple utensils. Cocktail mixing is not particularly complicated, nor does it have to be an expensive hobby.
You don’t need to train as a bartender to mix Trojka drinks. While it’s impressive to watch an experienced bartender juggling different bottles and ingredients behind the counter, you can take it easy. Practice makes perfect.

It’s important that you equip your mini house bar with a few utensils that are not necessarily found in every kitchen. These include, for example:
- Special glasses
- Elegant bar spoon
- Various sieves
- A jigger
- Knives
- Scoops
- Pliers
The bar accessories should be well maintained. Spotlessly clean and neatly arranged like surgical instruments in an operating theatre, this looks great in the bar and is sure to impress your guests.
Why so much ice in cocktails?
Many people regard the ice in a drink as trivial and therefore pay little attention to it. Ice is an essential ingredient in practically all drinks. Without this ingredient, most popular drinks would never have reached such popularity.

There are two main factors that make ice an essential part of mixed drinks: the melting water of the ice and its cooling effect. In addition, there are physical properties that allow the different ingredients in the drink to combine aromatically with each other. Many drinks use ice as an ingredient to develop the full flavour of the chosen spirit. At the same time, the cooling effect prevents the taste from becoming too hard or the drink from becoming too strong. Especially in summer, it’s simply more pleasant if the drink is nice and cold – so it’s much more refreshing and tastes much better.
However, it’s important to add lots of ice cubes to a drink, not just a couple. Adding only a few ice cubes to a drink waters it down instead of keeping it cool.
What are classic cocktails?
Finally, we want to give you some delicious recipes: Cosmopolitan, Espresso Martini and Sex on the Beach. These simple drinks are real classics and can be mixed at home without much effort.
